Boiler Installation Edinburgh & The Lothians

If your boiler is becoming unreliable, expensive to run or difficult to repair, Heat Tech Scotland can help you choose and install a replacement that is properly matched to your home. We provide boiler installation across Edinburgh, Midlothian, East Lothian, West Lothian and the Scottish Borders, with clear advice from survey through to final handover. As a Worcester Bosch Accredited Installer, we install selected Worcester Bosch gas and LPG boilers and can offer extended manufacturer guarantees of up to 12 years on eligible installations. The exact guarantee depends on the boiler, system filter, installer arrangement and current Worcester Bosch terms, so we confirm this as part of your quotation rather than using a one-size-fits-all promise.

Is It Time to Replace Your Boiler?

A boiler does not need to stop completely before replacement becomes sensible. Repeated repair bills, unreliable hot water, persistent pressure loss, expensive obsolete parts, poor controls or a boiler that is simply no longer suited to the household can all be reasons to consider an upgrade. The right decision depends on the condition of the appliance and the wider heating system.

  • Frequent breakdowns or recurring fault codes
  • Difficulty sourcing parts for an older model
  • Heating or hot water that no longer meets household demand
  • A boiler that is leaking, excessively noisy or suffering repeated pressure problems
  • An inefficient older appliance combined with dated controls
  • A planned renovation where the boiler location or heating layout is changing

We will not recommend replacement simply because a boiler is old. Where a repair is safe, economical and likely to provide a sensible service life, we can discuss that option through our boiler repairs service.

Choosing the Right Type of Boiler

The best boiler is the one that suits the property and the way hot water is actually used. During the survey we consider the existing system, number of bathrooms, likely simultaneous demand, water pressure and flow, available space and your preferences for storage and controls.

Boiler type Typically suits Advantages Points to consider
Combi Many flats and small-to-medium homes with one main bathroom No separate hot-water cylinder; hot water on demand; compact installation Performance depends on incoming water flow and household demand; not always ideal for several simultaneous outlets
System Homes with higher hot-water demand and a suitable hot-water cylinder Stored hot water can serve multiple outlets; many components are built into the boiler Requires cylinder space and the system must be correctly sized
Regular / conventional Some larger or older homes already using a traditional open-vented system Can work well with existing traditional systems and high stored-water demand More components and storage space; conversion may be considered during major upgrades

What Our Customers Say

1. Survey and heating assessment

We start by understanding the existing heating system and what you need from the replacement. For some straightforward jobs a video survey can provide enough information to begin pricing; more complex installations may need an in-person visit. We look at boiler position, flue route, system type, controls, water demand and any known heating problems.

2. Clear quotation and boiler selection

You receive a quotation based on the agreed installation, not an artificially low headline price that ignores necessary work. We explain the recommended boiler, output and any system upgrades. If there are optional improvements, these should be separated clearly from essential work.

3. Installation and protection of your home

On installation day we protect the work area, isolate services safely, remove the old appliance and install the new boiler. Where a system clean or power flush is required, this is completed as part of the agreed scope. We aim to minimise disruption and keep you informed if anything unexpected is uncovered.

4. Testing, commissioning and handover

The system is tested, commissioned and checked for safe operation. We then explain the controls, basic pressure top-up procedure where relevant, servicing requirements and guarantee information. Your old boiler and agreed waste are removed.

Necessary alterations to gas, water, condensate and heating connections within the agreed scope
Flue installation or alteration to meet current requirements
System cleaning or flushing appropriate to the condition of the heating circuit
Installation of a magnetic/system filter where specified
Controls and thermostat setup
Filling, venting, balancing and operational checks
Gas safety and combustion checks by the Gas Safe registered engineer
